It's always exciting to see the outcome of a project when our client has a vision for a space...especially one that makes great use of the room's features. In this playroom, our client needed storage so we started with a bench with three soft-closing flip-top lids. To maximize storage along the wall, we added built-in bookcases between the windows. Making creative use of the vertical space allows our client to style the shelves and evolve them as the needs of their family change. As a bonus, the built-in bookcases created multiple reading nooks that work beautifully in front of their wall of windows...feeling playroom envy right about now!
What better way to enjoy this room and view than with a cozy banquette to stretch out? Our Indian Land clients had a dining nook with a view of their lovely wooded lot. Together, we designed a corner banquette with soft-closing, flip-top lids to create lots of seating with LOADS of storage. Because we all know, the kitchen is the heart of the home!
It's alway fun reinventing a space with client. This week, my Tega Cay client wanted to repurpose an original desk nook that had a countertop and a wire shelf to something more functional. We took out the existing desktop and turned the space into both a mudroom/drop-zone AND a laundry hanging area. Complete with top cubbies for storage, soft-close benches, hooks for jackets AND a hanging bar, this old desk area has not one new life, but two!
This week's project was in a new home in Weddington. The client's recently moved in and needed their entryway off the garage outfitted with a drop-zone. They chose an open-bottom base that would hold boots or baskets and a duplex top, one divided and one open with crown to finish it off. On the walls, they chose a combination of bead board with a board and batten trim overlay and 5 hooks, enough for the couple, their two kids and guests.
Our Tega Cay client was looking to give her dining room a whole new look. First, we pulled her white chair rail and picture framing off the walls. Then, we replaced it with ledge height board & batten around the entire room. Painted white, the board and batten creates a beautiful backdrop for this elegant dining room table and the dark brown walls add lots of drama.
Our Massey client had the pantry so many of us new home buyers start off with...builder-grade white wire pantry shelves that don't maximize the space or hold everything we need. After determining how she wanted to use the space, our client sketched out her dream pantry that provided her a workspace counter AND maximized the space for the storage she needed. Complete with under-cabinet lighting, it truly is a pantry to love.
